Conference Details

Exploring the Portuguese Diaspora in Interdisciplinary and Comparative Perspectives: An International Conference opens with an evening welcome reception on July 25, 2013. The conference sessions will be held on July 26 and 27, 2013. A closing dinner will take place in the evening of July 27, 2013.  

1. Delegate registration fee includes: 

  • Ticket to the Welcome Reception
  • Entry to all conference sessions  
  • Morning and afternoon coffee-breaks during the conference
  • Lunch the two days of the conference
  • Conference materials including conference program book and satchel
  • Cultural events

NOTE:  Companion rate covers program, attendance at sessions, cultural events, the reception, and coffee-breaks.

NOTE:  Please note that transportation to and from the airport to the hotel is provided by the delegate.

Refund Policy: Registrants’ requests for refunds will be considered if a written request is sent by May 30, 2013. Refunds are subject to a cancellation fee of $50 US dollars; there are no refunds for non-attendance.

3. Accommodation

Conference Hotel:

  • Columbia Club is the official hotel of the Exploring the Portuguese Diaspora
  • Rooms-double or single (124 USD + 17% tax/night)

  • Delegates are to make their own room booking directly.
  • Delegates have until June 15, 2013  to book the number of rooms desired. Lodging at the hotel cannot be secured after this date.

4. Travel

We recommend that conference delegates make their airfare reservations as soon as possible so as to avoid higher airfare prices.

Travel from continental Portugal:

USAIR currently offers the most affordable prices (Lisbon-Philadelphia-Indianapolis). Consult or other online travel booking sites

Travel from Brazil:

The best option is dependent on the airport of departure. Travel for a minimum of one week is cheaper than for a lesser number of days. Consult or other online travel booking sites.

Travel from the Azores:

SATA to Boston to Indianapolis. Must arrive in the mid-afternoon flight in order to be able to travel to Indianapolis on the same day. If staying in the area prior to coming to Indianapolis, you may use also the TFGreen Airport in Rhode Island.

Travel from other areas of the world (Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe, Middle East, and USA):

Make sure that your arrival airport is Indianapolis. Please consult or other online travel booking sites.

5. Ground transportation (conference days)

Shuttle service from/to hotel/conference sessions and events will be provided by the Exploring the Portuguese Diaspora Conference
