Pre-service Teachers' Experiences Co-teaching with Scientists in Discovering Science

Abstract
The purpose of this presentation is to explore the affects on elementary pre-service teachers after they co-taught with PhD scientists in a junior high science outreach program, called Discovering Science. In a qualitative case study, we interviewed pre-service teachers to explore how Discovering Science influenced their attitudes towards science and teaching science. We found that Discovering Science helped facilitate positive images of teaching scientific inquiries, but did not contribute to developing specific pedagogic content knowledge.
