The 14th international Triennial Conference of ACLALS will be hosted by Canada and will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia from August 17 to 22, 2007. This conference, on the theme "Literature For Our Times", will address the role and function of literature in the twenty-first century through keynote speeches, paper presentations, panel discussions and literary readings.

PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE NOW ABLE TO OFFER THE EARLY REGISTRATION FEE RIGHT THROUGH, i.e. till August 7, 2007 and at the conference. Anyone who has paid the Late Reg Fee will be reimbursed. Please write to Julie McGonegal, ACLALS Secretary Treasurer, at mcgonegal@sympatico.ca, if you paid the Late Reg fee.

The program will commence with a reading and commentary by Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott on the evening of August 17, 2007. Tickets for the general public ($15) will be available through the Chan Centre Ticket Office, starting July 30,2007 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

There will be keynote speeches on the mornings of August 18 -22nd, followed by concurrent sessions and panel discussions till the evening of August 22, 2007.

Evening readings will be held at the Freddy Wood Theatre on August 18th and 20, 2007. These readings are free and open to the public. (The Freddy Wood Theatre has a max. capacity of 400 seats. Seating will be on a first-come basis.)

Another highlight of this conference will be readings by three winners of the Commonwealth Writers' Prize, on August 19, 2007, at the Freddy Wood Theatre. (A limited number of seats will be available to the general public on a first come basis at the door, $10/- cash only).

A Publishers' Display area will offer the delegates a look at most recent publications of the publishers who are participating. This will be at the Meekinson Lounge, from 8: 30 to 5 from August 18th till August 22, 2007.

The location of the conference is The University of British Columbia's Vancouver campus, with accommodation UBC's Gage residence or West Coast Suites for those wishing to stay on location.
