The Access 2003 team is working hard to deliver a conference that will live up to the standards set by previous Access events. Conference sessions will take place October 2-4, with a day-long preconference Hackfest on October 1.
The Conference will open with a keynote from Tim Bray and will include sessions on trends in metadata, open source library applications, interoperability protocols, management of electronic resources, birds-of-a-feather sessions... all the good stuff you expect from Access. You'll see some familiar (and popular) faces and meet some interesting new presenters.
The preconference Hackfest will build on the tradition started last year in Windsor. Programmers and librarians from public service, cataloguing, and other areas, will work together to build projects and prototypes of practical benefit to the community.
Vancouver offers many things to do besides hang out at library conferences, but be sure to put some time aside for the excellent social events planned for the evenings of October 2 and 3, including a pubnight at the legendary Railway Club and a cruise on majestic Vancouver harbour.
